What Being An Adult With No Driver’s License

Being an adult is about getting a degree, moving out of your parent’s house and getting a driver’s license.

In a recent research conducted by University of Michigan Transportation Research Institute, there was a decrease in the number of people obtaining a driver’s license between 2011 and 2014.

In 2014, among the young adults aged between 20 to 24 years old, the decrease in obtaining driver’s license has been 16.4%. While with those aged 25 to 29, there was a 10.3% decrease; for 35 to 39-year-olds, the decrease falls to 7.4% and for people from 40 to 54, the decrease falls to a minimum of 5%.

In an earlier study, the surveyors emphasized on the reasons attributing to the decline:

1. 37% of the lot thinks that they just don’t have enough time to go to a driving school and being eligible for a license.

2. 32% says that they can’t afford keeping cars, as vehicles require maintenance.

3. While the remaining 31% say they don’t need to buy their own when they can carpool with our friends.

Now everything aside, not having your driver’s license really does lead to some cons, which does nothing but end the license-deprived ones deeper into the state of regret. Let’s take a look at what they are:

· You have to literally beg your friends for a ride

· You can’t reach or leave early, because you’re dependent on others, which means your time, is now in their control.

· You run around like a frantic goose if you forget to plan everything in advance.

· You might get rejected for a job for not having a driver’s license.

· And if you plan to adopt a child, you might get rejected on that too.

Cons of not having a driver’s license will haunt you for the rest of your life, if you didn’t do anything about it.
